Aliah & Jason: Durham, NC

A few days after we closed on our first house, Jason told me we going out & to dress nice. Leading up to it I knew something was up because he was on his phone too much which is not normal. We went to lunch at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe & then out to Duke Gardens. At Duke Gardens I was trying enjoy the scenery but again Jason was on his phone & I started talking junk. He then changed the subject telling me he wanted to take a picture on the red bridge but he was waiting for people to move off of it. We finally got on the bridge & he told me I needed to look in a certain direction. I looked up & saw our families across the bridge holding up signs reading “Will You Marry Me?” when I turned around Jason was on one knee. At that moment I was speechless, all I could say was Yes.

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A: Our first date was at Frankie’s where everything you could possibly think of going wrong did. But for some reason that night changed our lives, and since then we’ve been inseparable.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
