Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We met at a library where I worked. My husband drives trucks and listens to audiobooks while he drives. He came in one day to make a special request and we hit it off. It started innocent enough as we would just exchange book suggestions and favorite authors until he finally worked up the courage to ask me out. After a couple years of dating he took me to my favorite upscale southern restaurant and asked me to marry him. When I called to tell my parents the news they were out to eat celebrating their anniversary. My husband had no idea but he proposed to me on my parents wedding anniversary! It made for a sweet surprise for everyone.

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: Going dress shopping I had no idea what I wanted. I just knew what I didn’t want! I took my mother and my older sister, who had me trying on styles I’d never choose myself. Thank God they did because I fell for a dress I never thought I would. My dress was a mermaid style gown with a halter top. It was very simple in the front with a beautiful slim beaded belt. In the back there was a beaded design that extended from my neck to the small of my back and silk buttons that trailed the entire length of my train. I chose a lightly beaded cathedral veil to match the length of my train. It was stunning if I do say so myself! My husband wore a navy blue tux and vest with a white shirt and light rose colored tie and a rose colored boutonnières. He chose camel colored shoes that went perfectly with the ensemble. He looked like the perfect southern gentleman.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: You will plan your wedding down to the very last detail but don’t expect everything to be perfect! We planned everything we could think of but we didn’t plan for Hurricane Irma to affect our wedding. It was scheduled to hit Charleston the weekend of our wedding so we had to make last minute changes to prepare. Fortunately it didn’t affect the wedding. But you never know! Also, take every moment in and just enjoy it. The day goes by SO fast!!
